Theatre Arts

Griffin is focused on lighting design and technology, but is trained in carpentry, painting, and sound, and has called shows as a stage manager before. He programs using EOS, and ETC consoles, but is looking to expand his knowledge to other languages and boards.

Other cool stuff!!

Below are several projects I've personally or collaboratively worked on and want to share! They showcase some of my other experience or skills without necessarily fitting into the box of Visual Art of Theatre Art.

Innocent Arms Bleed

A musical of my own creation, Innocent Arms Bleed is a concept for a punk rock musical about mental health. It is gritty, raw, and tragic. Following the life of The Innocent, and their journey through love while afflicted by a schizoaffective disorder, the hallucinations caused by it are played by the ensemble, or "The Voices."

Men

An art project for my pinnacle (AP) art class Senior Studio. We were prompted to tell a cultural or personal story through a unique medium and measurement, so I created a light/sound show to demonstrate three generations of Men's mental health in my family. Every year that myself, my father, and my grandfather were alive accounted for one second of the performance. They flowed into each other, from my grandfather's death into my dad's childhood, into me interrupting him as an adult for my brief but dramatic finale. While it was very symbolic for the viewer, the piece allowed me to explore my rather difficult family history with my father and raise awareness for the unsung ballads of people who struggle so deeply. I used my school's theater system for the lighting, and built my own QLab show to go along with it.

Live Foley

During my second year at SSTI, I took on the project of creating live foley for the Gravity Falls short called "Lefty." Since there wasn't a recording studio at the theater, I turned a closet into a recording space by covering the walls with packing blankets. Then over a couple of days, I worked with Camille Everett to record all the sounds we wanted. A massive thank you to the engineer and editor Camille, and her efforts in this project.
